My approach is based upon an understanding that what we do to cope with life's inevitable dissatisfactions can also, unintentionally, create further difficulties. Becoming aware of these patterns, and meeting them with compassion, often leads to significant changes in how we view ourselves, others, and the world around us: finding liberation from old habit patterns of body and mind. Simple as that sounds, it is much more complex in practice! The relationship you make with your therapist, the unique way your past shapes your present, alongside a host of other factors, all come in to play.

I love working together with people to really understand what is going on for them, and how they can come to a greater realisation of their potential. It is inspiring to see people making positive changes in their lives as a result of what we have done. It is often the case that we tap into hitherto unappreciated depths of strength and resilience that they were unaware of themselves. Being part of that motivates me to continue to offer psychotherapy. I come to psychology from a background in philosophy and with an interest in Buddhism. These inform my practice, by having a consideration of the deeper assumptions upon which our lives are based, and how our wellbeing links to matters of identity and connections beyond material selfhood.
