I am an integrative psychotherapist and supervisor trained in a variety of different methodologies, from psychoanalysis to cognitive behavioural therapy: with many other theories informing my practice as well. Over the years, I have achieved my own integration of these theories and practices that I believe make me an effective psychotherapist and supervisor.

The heart of the way I work is to identify the client or supervisee's needs, and then utilise my practical and theoretical knowledge to inform my work with them. I am, no doubt, guided by working models that are informed by theory. I have come to learn, however, that models work only in the abstract, and it is only from getting to my client that I can develop a practice specific to the client that works.

I have been practicing for more than 15 years and have confidence in my methods. If I assess that my way of working is not appropriate for you, I will endeavour to refer you to someone more appropriate. I offer an initial assessment session that enables us both to decide what is the best course forward for you. Please enquire about my prices.

I offer online supervision sessions via the Stillpoint platform, but see psychotherapy clients in my London consultation room. I'm sorry but at this time I do not currently have any sessions available.

While my main work for the past fifteen years has been providing in-depth psychotherapy to individuals in London, I have, since the beginning, been involved in the wider applications of psychotherapy in society. My wide portfolio of work, from working on The Samaritans suicide hotline to managing London's largest FE college's Student Services Team, I have learned a lot about how psychology can be applied outside the consultation room as well as within it.

As a member of faculty at the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex, I honed my skills both in teaching and researching using contemporary psychoanalytic techniques. However, I am committed to taking psychoanalysis outside of both the clinic and the academy, and have been devoted to offering quality psychological insights to the media in my role as a BBC Radio 1 mental health expert and online "Agony Uncle" for both the BBC, Children's BBC, and other media outlets.

I have a long term interest in applying psychoanalytic concepts to culture as well as the clinic. I have written two books in this area, an academic book entitled The Psychodynamics of Social Networking and a self help book for children entitled Keep Your Cool: How to deal with life’s worries and stress. I believe that the amazing insights of psychotherapy don’t just belong in the consulting room or the academy, and spend a good deal of my professional life disseminating these ideas in a variety of contexts.
